In 50 years, the net worth of a home has more than doubled

According to a study by Reddy’s Group, real estate prices in Italy grew by an average of 8.0% per annum in 55 years (1961-2016).

In the same time span, the cost of living grew by an average of 6.1% per annum.

The real compound increase was therefore 1.8% per annum in 55 years.

A real estate investment in lire in 1961 equivalent to 100,000 euros today has become more than 260,000 euros net of inflation.
