Continuing improvement in the real estate market – BANK OF ITALY REPORT

Posted: 19 February 2016

Economic Survey published, conducted with Tecnoborsa and Italian Revenues Agency.  In the fourth quarter of 2015 the gradual improvement in the real estate market continued. The share of agents reporting a decline in residential sales prices continued to shrink and, for the first time since the spring of 2011, these were in a minority. Moreover, the percentage of agents who have sold at least one home has grown, in connection with favourable demand conditions. The optimism by agents on the short-term evolution of their own submarket has been reinforced, thanks mainly to more favourable expectations regarding the development of prices and of new sales instructions. Greater optimism about the prospects of the domestic market is also seen for the medium term (two years). These were the main findings from the latest Economic Survey conducted by the Banca d’Italia, Tecnoborsa and the Italian Revenues Agency on the Italian housing market.
