Mortage applications rising by double digits, confidence is returning

Posted: 24 January 2017

Mortgage applications have shot up by double digits, accompanied by a moderate upswing in credit applications for families.

According to figures from CRIF’s credit information system, EURISC, these were the overall trends seen in household loans throughout 2016.

Among new and subrogated mortgages in 2016, applications increased by a little more than 13%.

This was an encouraging sign of returning confidence, which was also supported by the trend in the amounts requested: for mortgages, the average value was just above €123,000 (+0.9%).
