Posted: 13 July 2016

Vineyards as an investment idea alongside real estate? Why not, especially in certain parts of the country. The prices of Prosecco vineyards, for example, have increased by 30% over the past 10 years, whereas the value of both residential and commercial real estate in the Treviso area have lost much of their value, with peaks of between 30% and 50% depending on the use.

At a national level, according to INEA (the former National Institute of Agricultural Economics, now Crea) from the beginning of the millennium to 2014 the average price of Italian vineyards increased by 28% in nominal terms and by between 2 and 4% in real terms.
