The iGeneration Fund, a national platform aimed at creating about 1,800 beds in innovative university residences throughout Italy, is now operational. In particular, a new type of hybrid housing for students and young workers will be realized, thanks to the integration of residential component and services such as co-working spaces, start-up incubators, technological and research hubs also in collaboration with university universities.

The platform includes an initial investment program totaling about 130 million, which will be covered by the National Fund for Social Housing (FNAS, promoted by CDP Real Asset) up to a maximum share of 50 percent. The real estate initiatives of the iGeneration Fund will be built throughout the country in areas with high potential for the presence of excellent universities. The new projects will represent virtuous models of urban regeneration for the area in which they fall, complementing the development of university universities, hubs and innovation districts.

The Fund’s impact objective is to help bridge the gap between demand and supply of accommodation in the university and professional housing sector, working with both territorial foundations of banking origin and the relevant universities. The management of the facilities will be entrusted to leading managers selected from among the leading national and local operators in the sector.

The platform’s first investment will involve a property of more than 15,000 square meters in Naples, located near the Central Station: a transformation project that is part of the broader urban regeneration project in the eastern quadrant of the city. The intervention will be inspired by principles aimed at improving the energy performance and well-being of the occupants: the management of the new facility will be entrusted to CampusX, a leading operator in the university accommodation sector.
