Published the call for tender for the Masterplan of Arexpo
Significant feedback was received to the London presentation of the tender for selection of the Arexpo partners for managing development of the area which housed Milan’s universal exposition in 2015. As a result the company, after the meeting with international investors, has decided to correct and re-publish the call for tender, providing 99-year concession of the area instead of 50-year initially supposed. The tender is available on the company’s website (www.arexpo.it).
The presentation, which followed a similar meeting to the one which took place in Milan, was held at the Italian Embassy in front of a dozen key international players, to whom the fundamentals of the Masterplan tender, involving two phases, were illustrated: the first phase involves definition of the Masterplan itself for the whole Area, equal to about million sqm, as well as of the Business Plan; the second phase will see implementation of development activities on the Area, including its design, construction works and space management. To this end a concessionary contract will be drawn up, for up to 99 years, upon payment of a fee to Arexpo. The tender will be awarded in favour of the most economically beneficial offer and a 28 February 2017 deadline is envisaged for submitting invitation requests.
“In both Milan and London we have received a great deal of interest,” states Giovanni Azzone, Arexpo President, “in a project which is completely new for our country .” “The tender model which we chose is used abroad, although it is an absolute novelty for Italy,” explained Giuseppe Bonomi, MD of Arexpo. “The Parco della Scienza project, with the Università Statale and the Human Tecnopole alongside private firms which have already expressed their desire to be present on the site, will be an extraordinary opportunity for our country which its players are watching very carefully.”
