The compound consists of two buildings, the lighthouse and the lightkeeper’s house, and two small rooms below ground level.

The lighthouse, built in 1859 by order of Pope Pius IX, is a cylindrical tower with wall structure and exposed brick wall. On the top, now devoid of the lantern, there is a small external gallery, accessible through a spiral staircase. At a later time, a rectangular building in masonry, consisting of ground floor and lower ground, has been built adjacent to the lighthouse.

The lightkeeper’s house, situated at a short distance from the lighthouse, has a masonry structure and consists of a raised ground floor with exterior finishes in brick.

The property also includes an appurtenant courtyard bordered by a brick curtain wall, with an overhanging view on the sea.

In 1977 the building was declared of cultural interest pursuant to Law n. 1089/39, as an “example of the 19th century port facilities and evidence of the urban development of the town and of its port facilities”.

The property is situated in the municipality of Ancona, in the locality of Colle dei Cappuccini, at the borders of the old town, inside the Cardeto park, in a dominating position with excellent exposure and panoramic view over the old town, over Mount Conero and over the port of Ancona.

Due to its position inside the public park, the estate is accessible only on foot from the various entrances to the park, of which the nearest is at about 500 m.

The town can be reached by train (4 km from the main station), by ship (1 km from the port of Ancona), by plane (20 km from the airport of Falconara Marittima) or by car (12 km from the highway exit Ancona Sud).
