Viale Matteotti, 157 - 18100 Imperia (IM) Over the years, architects and engineers have been updating and transforming the old projects of the Marina of the City of Imperia in order to make them more contemporary from an architectural point of view and in order to meet the changing needs in terms of eco-sustainability and energy saving.
The urban regeneration project is very ambitious, and is located within an urban context undergoing redevelopment which will generate an investment flow of approximately € 100,000,000.00; the intervention involves the construction of a 5-star hotel, a luxury residence, two residential buildings and a yacht club; large green areas and cycle paths will be created which will connect the marina to the city centre. The guidelines of the redevelopment project have been designed with particular attention to environmental needs, the changed international scenario and the need for energy efficiency. The innovative approach adopted by the local administration for the redevelopment of such a large area was designed with the aim of integrating the marina with the historic centre of the city, through the creation of green areas for the benefit of citizens, responding thus to the new needs of collective living; large car parks and photovoltaic sunscreens will be created to shade the buildings most exposed to the sun, “climatic islands” will be inserted, the marine ecosystem will be recovered and redeveloped through sophisticated technologies, great attention will be paid to the well-being of the individual and to inclusiveness.
The Marina of Imperia is located within the historic basin of Porto Maurizio, which, together with the small town of Oneglia, is part of the Municipality of Imperia (population 43,000). The property is located in the central area of the city, south of the capital, in a strategic position, on the coast and not far from the hinterland. The area is located between the Riviera di Ponente and the Riviera di Levante, 55 km from the border with France (45 minutes by car), and 70 km from the Principality of Monaco. The “Cristoforo Colombo” international airport of Genoa is instead located about 120 km from the Ligurian city (90 minutes by car); Milan is instead located 280 km from Imperia, while the international airport of Milan Malpensa is 280 km away (3 hours by car). The hinterland and the coast of Imperia offer a very varied landscape, and the province, located along the Riviera dei Fiori, goes inland until it reaches the Ligurian Alps that, with their 2000 meters, mark the border with France and Piedmont.
