La Maddalena (SS) – Punta Filetto Lighthouse

Maritime signaling structure, called Faro di Punta Filetto, situated in the Municipality of La Maddalena, on a cliff overlooking the sea, with an extraordinary view on the archipelago of La Maddalena.
The compendium will be re-qualified according to a model of touristic and cultural valorization, mainly tied to sustainable tourism themes, trying to discover the territory and searching for the safeguarding of landscapes, even with the coexistence of public use, intended as public utility. The property will remain among the properties of the Sardinia Region and will be given in concession to third parties for recovery and valorization.

From the present tender the following are excluded, because in exclusive use to the Navy, the terrace and tower on the second floor of “Body A – Lighthouse building”, while the entrance hall and the stairs, up until the first floor, will be in co-use. The berthing quay and the connecting road to the lighthouse building (included in the cadastral particle 21 of paper 23 of C.T.) are not subject to concession.

The lighthouse of Punta Filetto, activated in 1913, was put into disuse in 1972. The building, articulated on two levels, presents a regular plan of rectangular shape with a building on the eastern side that is used as an entrance and terrace on the first floor. On the ground floor there are five spaces, excluding entrance and stairway, of which two are probably used as kitchen and warehouse. On the flat covering there is a tower with a square plan on which there is a signaling lantern. The building connected to the lighthouse is made of brick on one level. The tender foresees the concession use for third parties of the property, with the exclusion, due to the exclusive use to the Navy of the terrace and the lighthouse on the second floor, while the entrance and the stairway, until the first floor, will be in common use to both users. The area on which the property comes to be is subject to landscape and environmental restrictions, while the lighthouse, declared of cultural and historical interest, according to Legislative Decree 42/2004, is subject to the dispositions of Part 2 of the same Decree. The Municipality of La Maddalena is formally committed to approve the variation to the urban tool in force, for the activation of the requalification of the property.

The lighthouse of Punta Filetto is situated in the territory of the Municipality of La Maddalena (11,233 inhabitants), in the province of Sassari (492,642 inhabitants).
The archipelago of La Maddalena, made up of seven main islands and many smaller islands, is the extreme point of Northern Sardinia where the uncontaminated nature, the intense perfumes of the Mediterranean Scrub and the deep blue sea with infinite transparencies form a combination of unique beauty. The property is situated in the eastern part of the Santa Maria island, where there is a splendid view on the entire archipelago and on the Bocche di Bonifacio. It is possible to reach the area where the property is situated using the berth of Cala Santa Maria and going through a dirt pathway for about 1.4 km. The airport of Olbia-Costa Smeralda (17th Italian airport with 3 million passengers in 2018) is about 50 km away, while the port of Olbia is about 50 km away.
