The areas to be developed are located within the perimeter of the railway station in Trapani, in an area of the site that is no loner used. The project area is semi-central, close to the old town centre and in the town’s tourist and commercial port. The surface area to undergo redevelopment totals more than 13,000 m² with some existing buildings, that will most certainly be demolished, that total a surface area of approximately 470 m². The area is well suited to transformation with the building of residential and commercial buildings.

 

The project area is located in a semi-central area of Trapani (69,182 inhabitants), the main town in the province of the same name (436,296 inhabitants) in the region of Sicily. It is the most western town of the region, and is the divide between the two coasts, the northern and the western one, and is extremely important for both tourism, with its tourist port used to rapidly reach the islands of Favignana, Levanzo and Marettimo, Tunisia and other locations, and for the production of characteristic products (sea salt, tuna, wine, items made from coral). The area is accessed directly from Piazza Umberto I, next to the travellers’ area in the station, and from where it is easy to reach the town’s main roads, the port (1 km) and the old town centre (1.2 km). The area is well served by public services, with shops, schools and urban and regional bus routes. The town is 90 km from Palermo and 156 km from Agrigento.
