The original construction of the building dates back to the 17th century, later developing in the 18th century as the residence of the Nussio family.
Over the years, the building changed ownership several times until it became state property in 1912; in the 1920s it was used as a barracks for the Guardia di Finanza (Financial Police), and subsequently a portion was allocated to a civic library in the late 1980s, finally finding its ultimate purpose as a courthouse, serving as a detached section of the Cividale del Friuli court, until its closure and handover in 2014.
The portion subject to the concession faces the small square of the Church of San Pietro ai Volti and extends over three above-ground floors and an internal courtyard with vehicle access from Via G. Marconi; it is equipped with electrical, water, and heating/sanitary systems, however, as these have been inactive since 2014, their proper functioning is not guaranteed.
The property has long been unused, in good state of preservation, with no recent maintenance; the paved outdoor area shows vegetation and shrubs growth.

Borgo San Pietro is a historic medieval district of Cividale del Friuli. Enclosed by ancient Venetian walls, it developed around the splendid Porta San Pietro. It safeguards treasures such as the frescoed Church of Saints Peter and Blaise, the green Parco Italia, and each year experiences the magic of the Palio.
