Although still provisional, the situation outlined for the Italian tourism sector is positive for 2016 and is characterised by an increase in foreign tourist stays in the main national holiday towns. Italian product sold best to the United Arab Emirates and the Netherlands, as well as to Germany and Austria.

Provisional data provided by the National Tourism Board recorded a growth trend in the incoming sector this summer.

The research involved more than 150 tour operators. The majority of those interviewed, 68%, said they had detected an increase in the sales of packages to Italy, whilst 19% believe that numbers remained virtually unchanged on previous years, while 13% noted a slight decrease.
