The compound, located in the municipality of Castel Volturno (CE), is on the left bank of the mouth of the river Volturno and included in the nature reserve “Foce Volturno – Costa di Licola”, which was established with the Decree of the Region of Campania n. 2776 dated 26/09/2003. The nature reserve is a Site of Community Interest (S.C.I.) and a Special Protection Area (S.P.A.).

The compound, used by the NATO as a HF radio shack, is made of a vast green area where the antennas are located, and by a central area, constructed and paved, used as operational control centre, surveillance and logistic point. 

The old town of Castel Volturno stands on the left bank of the river Volturno, on its last bend before it flows into the Gulf of Gaeta, in the Tyrrhenian Sea. The municipality extends over an area of 72,23 square kilometres and has 25 km of beaches and 10 km of pinewood. The southern part is included in the metropolitan area of Naples, located between the Agro Aversano and the Agro Giuglianese.
