The project aims to restore a former Cavalry barracks, next to the old town and equipped with large parking lots, ideal for offices or accommodation facilities. The former Cavalry barracks “Zanardi Bonfiglio” is a building of notable historical significance erected in about 1860, and a great example of the military architecture of that time. The project idea is to recover the parts of the building which are currently unused. The parts located in the north yard shall be turned into public services facilities, while the ones in the south yard shall be available for investors. The realization of an underground parking area for both yards is also provided for.
Via Gramsci - 27058 Voghera (PV) The project provides for the recovery of a building of historical value erected about in 1860, which is a great example of the military architecture of that time. It is located next to the old town of Voghera.
Currently a part of the building houses following services:
– in the east side, a library (Biblioteca Ricottiana), the natural sciences museum, the local history museum, the offices of the municipal multi-service company ASM Voghera S.p.a.
– in the north-west side, the municipal offices of the Local Police and of the Administrative Police, bursary, general register office, elections office, cemetery services, social services, education and sport, personnel, public works, and information technology
– in the south side there is a secondary school, the bursary storages, and other storages for the services related to road and buildings maintenance.
The project provides for the recovery of the parts currently unused in the north side to be destined to public services, and for the transfer to private individuals of the parts near the south yard, except for the wing in via Gramsci where the local history museum is located.
In both yards it is possible to realize underground parkings to be outsourced to the promoter of the development initiative.
The value of the complex can be estimated as 12/13 million euro.
Voghera is the main town of the region named Oltrepò Pavese, in the province of Pavia, and it is an important road and railway junction in north-western Italy, as well as a renowned wine production area.
It is the third most populated town in the province, after Pavia and Vigevano. It is 55 km northeast of Vigevano, on the banks of the river Staffora, a tributary of the river Po.
