The real estate portion to be redeveloped is part of a historic building called «ex Caserma Verdinois» which stands on the top of the Tramontana Walls, characterized by two elevations above ground and an “L” shape. The property, now reduced to ruins, is located in the heart of the historic centre of Trapani, in a prestigious position as it overlooks the northern coast of the city. In fact, it stands on the top of the ancient Walls of Tramontana, also state property and granted for use to the Municipality of Trapani for the implementation of an urban redevelopment project. The portion offered in concession corresponds to the second elevation with respect to Via Sant’Anna and the first with respect to the walkway of the civic walls, reachable via a staircase that starts from the same street. The unit below, with direct access from via Sant’Anna, is privately owned and currently used as a warehouse. Of the original consistency of the building, only the vertical wall structures remain visible, while the reconstruction can take place based on the graphs kept in the documents. The property, once intended as a barracks for the Italian Army, was definitively decommissioned from government use in 1947 and has remained unused since then.

Via Sant’Anna is located in the heart of the historic centre of Trapani, in an area of great charm that preserves the original urban layout and evidence of the medieval and baroque era. The road runs along the northern side of the city, close to the Tramontana Walls, ancient fortifications which for centuries defended Trapani from attacks by sea. From here you can enjoy a suggestive view of the coast and the Egadi islands. Along the street, historic buildings, churches and noble palaces tell of the city’s military and mercantile past. The area, rich in panoramic views and valuable architectural elements, today represents one of the most characteristic and identifying places of Trapani.
