The building, former main structure and accommodation of the friars of the convent of Saints Joseph, Tecla and Rita, can be accessed from Via Carlo Mayr 106. The building, built in the seventeenth century, is divided into three floors above ground and is made with a brick masonry structure, terracotta cornice and pitched roof supported by a wooden structure surmounted by terracotta tiles and coverings. The main façade on Via Carlo Mayr is marked by rectangular windows on the ground floor whose openings are surrounded by a concrete frame, while on the first and second floors they are characterized by brick jack arches and terracotta windowsills; two entrance doors can be found, with round arches preceded by a landing and some terracotta steps. Inside the building, the rooms unfold along a corridor that overlooks Via Carlo Mayr, while the classrooms that originally corresponded to the friars’ cells, take light and air from the gardens of Via Carri. There is still a seventeenth-century staircase that extends over four flights and serves the entire building; the flights are covered and supported by barrel vaults.

The property is located in the historic centre of Ferrara (population 129,391), capital of the province of the same name in the Emilia-Romagna region. The property is 600 meters from Piazza Trento e Trieste (8 minutes on foot), while the train station is 3 km from the property (8 minutes by car), and is served by regional and high-speed lines, on the Venice-Trieste-Padova-Bologna line. The “Ferrara Nord” exit on the A13 motorway (Bologna-Padua) is about 7.5 km from the property (15 minutes by car), while the state road SS-16 (Adriatica), which connects Padua with Otranto, passes through the city section, 2 km away from the property.
