P.le John Fitzgerald Kennedy - 16128 Genova (GE) The Indoor Sports Arena, built in 1962 by Leo Finzi, will be the subject of a complete redevelopment, with particular attention to two different functions that it will be able to perform: the Sports Arena and the Thematic Commercial District. The new structures, developed upwards, will create a ring of commercial functions on the external perimeter, while the Sports Arena, developed in collaboration with CONI, will be able to accommodate 4,000 spectators, expandable up to 5,000, capable of hosting sports, musical or trade fair events. Outside, the Thematic Commercial District gallery will be developed with refreshment points and terraces overlooking the sea. The new Arena will be a multi-purpose sports facility with extremely flexible characteristics and the possibility of hosting, during the training and preparation phases, different sports disciplines: Volleyball, Martial Arts, Gymnastics, 5-a-side Football, Handball, Fencing and Basketball (FIP GOLD classification with the possibility of hosting major league matches).
The Arena is located in a semi-central area of Genoa (population 561,191), within the Eastern Waterfront project, an area undergoing redevelopment that will become a strategic hub for sports, events and tourism, 2 km on foot from the historic centre (Piazza De Ferrari). The area is characterized by a mix of residential, commercial and hospitality functions, with strong development potential. In the surroundings of the structure, important attractions, including the Old Port, the Aquarium and Genoa’s Fair can be found, which make it a strategic asset for events and entertainment. The area is easily accessible and well served by several public transport lines, as well as by the future expansion of the subway. The Genoa “Brignole” train station with the subway stop is 2 km away, while the “Piazza Principe” station is 6 km away.
