Villa Rossi was built by the noble Lomellini family in the 17th century but was soon sold to the Centurione Spinola family. In 1855, it was purchased at auction by the Rossi-Martini family, who expanded the beautiful park by over 4 hectares, whose design, in English style, was created by the landscape architect Giuseppe Rovelli, who used different species of palms to adorn it. The building was sold to the Municipality of Genoa in the 1930s and was used as a school, which was later abandoned at the beginning of the 2000s. After some restoration work carried out between 2010 and 2013, the villa was used as a cultural centre and today, it is home to numerous associations. The park is often used for cultural and leisure events, especially during the summer season. The building, divided into three and five aboveground levels, is in fair general conditions; however, it requires redevelopment and building and plant maintenance interventions.

The villa is located in the peripheral area of Genoa (population 561,191), capital of the Metropolitan City of the same name, to the west of the historic centre, in the Sestri Ponente district, one of the most populous in the city; the district has always been the commercial and productive centre of Genoa, home to important technological and industrial companies. The area is close to Christopher Columbus Airport and the largest nautical base of the Italian Naval League. The shipbuilding industry has ancient traditions of rooting on the territory, confirmed by the presence of numerous chanters: here were in fact built and launched the most important ships in Italian history. The Genoa Piazza Principe railway station, which guarantees connections with the main Italian cities, is located 8 km away from the area (15 minutes by car), while the ferry terminal is approximately 6.5 km away (10 minutes by car). The “Genova Airport” exit of the A-7 motorway (“Autostrada dei Giovi”), which connects the city with Milan, is approximately 6 km away from the property (10-12 minutes by car), while the “Cristoforo Colombo” international airport is located 5.5 km away (5-8 minutes by car).
