The sports complex “Giacomo Carlini – Marco Bollesan” is one of the main multifunctional sports hubs in the city, serving competitive and federation purposes, as well as being intended for use by local sports associations. It is owned by the Municipality of Genoa and has a complex structure, consisting of several buildings and sports areas distributed within a single plot of about 27,088 sqm. The main buildings include the West Stand, developed over three above-ground floors with mixed functions (changing rooms, services, gyms, and press room); the East Stand, featuring three overall levels (spectator level, ground floor with sports facilities, and basement); the historic velodrome, equipped with underlying rooms; the rugby field; the five-a-side football field; and the baseball/softball field situated above an underground garage.

From a construction perspective, the complex dates back to 1912 and was inaugurated in 1927, the year to which the oldest buildings, featuring reinforced concrete structures, belong, while the interventions of the 1980s introduced prefabricated elements and new stands. The current use is social and sports-related, consistent with the urban classification “SIS-S – Public Services” and “TU – Urban Fabric.” Possible transformations may involve functional upgrades, expansion of services, or partial reconversions, in accordance with current urban planning regulations. The historical portion of the facility is subject to verification of cultural interest pursuant to Legislative Decree 42/2004, specifically Articles 10, paragraph 1, and 12 of the Decree, as it is a public property with cultural interest and more than seventy years old.

The sports facility “Giacomo Carlini – Marco Bollesan”, located in the eastern part of Genoa along Corso Europa, is situated in an urban context characterized by residential buildings, universities, and public services, including the nearby San Martino hospital complex.

The area enjoys excellent road connections to the city centre and to the Genova Nervi (about 4.5 km away) and Genova Est (about 5.9 km away) motorway exits. The stadium is about 2 km from Genova Brignole railway station and about 12 km from Cristoforo Colombo Airport. The area is served by numerous public transport lines and is close to urban points of interest such as Corso Italia and other recreational areas in the eastern part of the city.
