The site is made up of different buildings constructed in the early 900’s, except the chapel, which dates back to the 16th century and it maintains the proportions of the original monastic church. The main building has a rectangular layout, five floors above ground and one below ground, for a gross surface area of 3.300 m², and it’s always been used as a nursing home. There are two buildings used as residences, with a gross area of 180 m² and 240 m², two warehouses (130 m² and 350 m²) and the former Ascension church (280 m²), with a front porch and two lateral buildings. It’s currently not being used, and it’s placed in a vast park surrounded by a stone wall, of over 11.000 m², mostly covered by woods. The municipal administration has agreed to redevelop the site into tourist accommodation.

The property is located in the territory of Poppi (pop. 6.396), in the province of Arezzo (pop. 345.110), in the Tuscany region. It’s part of Casentino’s Montana Community, one of the four main valleys in the province of Arezzo. Mount Falterona and Mount Falco represent the northern borders of the valley, bordering with Emilia Romagna Region. The landscape varies from great mountain forests to valley floor plains. The particular features of the territory recall Saint Francis’ travels, he picked Verna (30 km) as a place of prayer and today it’s a Franciscan convent and a stop on the route of renewed spiritual interest.
The complex is located between the town of Poppi, one of the “most beautiful villages in Italy” with its impressive castle (over 30,000 visitors a year) and the fortress of Fronzola, along Via Colle Ascension where, not far away there is a beautiful Golf Club.
The estate is located between the town of Poppi and Fronzola’s fortress, on Via Colle Ascensione, connected to roads which go to Florence (60 km) and Arezzo (36 km), and from there to motorways and to the national railway. The town’s railway station is on the Arezzo-Pratovecchio/Stia line and it’s about 1 km from the site. The “Arezzo” toll-booth on the A-1 motorway (Rome-Florence) is 45 km away, while the “Bagno di Romagna” exit on the E-45 (Orte-Cesena) is 35 km away
