Housing: sales up 18.6% in 2016

With a leap of 18.9%, in 2016, the housing market in Italy grew for the third consecutive year (following growth of 6.5% in 2015 and 3.5% in 2014), with about 534,000 homes purchased.

According to a report of Agenzia delle Entrate (Tax Revenue Agency) in conjunction with ABI (the Italian Banking Association), the total value of sales increased from 76 to 89 billion, while new residential lettings remained stable (up 0.63% on 2015).

Homes purchased using mortgage loans also increased (by 27.3%).
