Rome: the prime housing market is growing and new areas are in great development

Posted: 6 March 2019

Rome’s prime market is growing, with demand’s peaks in the EUR and San Giovanni areas recorded in the second half of 2018, while in Prati a slight decrease was recorded.

The number of contracts increased also in the lease market, particularly in the Historic City Centre. In Prati and Parioli, the demand is still linked to the traditional residential purpose for Italian and foreign residents, often diplomats.

The most sought-after property is a three-room apartment of 100 sqm with at least two bedrooms. The request of lease agreements for assets to be used as guest quarters for employees of Roman branches is still present.

Over the next 6 months, sales should increase and prices should remain stationary, with an increase in particular in prime central locations.
