URBAN REGENERATION: AGENZIA DEL DEMANIO PUBLISHES CONCESSION NOTICES FOR RECOVERY AND REUSE OF PUBLIC PROPERTIES.

Posted: 23 December 2021

Rome, December 21st, 2021. – Agenzia del Demanio, the State Property Agency, through a redevelopment long lease, leases non-operating assets of the State, selected to be enhanced from an economic, social, cultural, and touristic point of view, with the aim to ensure a public use of such assets, to open them to the public and to prevent them from degeneration. Through public calls for tender, the Agency leases the assets to private parties able to take responsibility for their recovery, reuse, and good management, over a period of maximum 50 years. The concerned assets are located throughout Italy and represent a varied range of public properties of historical and symbolic value, all closely linked with their own urban settings and landscapes, as well as with their socio-cultural fabrics and reference communities.

The calls for tender are published on the Tenders and Auctions section of the site www.agenziademanio.it. Tenders must be submitted by 12:00 on May 19th, 2022. In addition to the calls for tender, it is possible to view all the related documentation, both in Italian and in English: a guide to the notice for redevelopment long lease, a guide to the business plan (PEF), a summary of the notices and the presentation sheets of all the assets.

Agenzia del Demanio, recognising the value of the various assets scattered throughout the national territory, points out different paths to produce a virtuous economic circle, through the available legislative instruments and respecting the identity and requirements of the various territories. These new opportunities of reuse and regeneration of State properties are included in the project Valore Paese Italia, a programme promoted by Agenzia del Demanio, MiC (Ministry of Culture), ENIT and Difesa Servizi SpA, in close cooperation with other ministries and institutional partners. Such programme is developed in compliance with the Strategy Plan for Tourism 2017-2022 with the aim to gather, under one single brand, the thematic networks joined by the common goal of enhancing the public assets of cultural and landscape interest, encouraging new activities related to sustainable tourism, culture, sport, education, soft mobility, and environmental protection, through public-private partnerships.

Agenzia del Demanio, as manager of the State properties, focuses on pointing out new strategies for the assets’ regeneration aimed to highlight the nature of the assets and to represent development opportunities for the territories involved.

In this time of rebirth for Italy, the Agency consolidates this way its role as economic development operator, serving as coordinator of model initiatives which can strengthen public-private cooperation and above all the synergy with other institutional partners.
