The area will be redeveloped to include additional moorings for river cruises, yachts and luxury ships, inserting a new passenger terminal and a multi-storey car park, as well as maintaining essential port operations and introducing spaces for shipbuilding (including minor ones). The project emphasizes the high-quality public spaces that integrate the waterfront with the historic centre of Chioggia and includes the construction of new pavilions serving the pleasure boating industry, a hotel, commercial spaces (including a fish market), as well as areas for fish processing. These functions aim to give value to the spaces during various times of the day, combined with the development of recreational green areas such as the “Giardini dei Saloni” and the construction of the “Chilometro Verde” (Green Kilometre), an elevated walkway connecting the main buildings and public spaces. These areas will be multifunctional and will serve as venues for events, markets and recreational activities.
Sustainable and intermodal solutions will improve accessibility, with pedestrian and cycle paths connecting the port to urban areas. Furthermore, intelligent mobility systems will optimize traffic management and logistics, ensuring a continuous and efficient transport network. This comprehensive approach aims to transform the Chioggia coastline into a lively and multifunctional urban district, while preserving its port identity.

The area is located near the Isola dei Saloni, in the area north of the Port of Chioggia (population 47,581), near the historic centre of the Venetian municipality, in a context characterised by cruises, river tourism and pleasure boating. Chioggia is located on small islands connected to each other by bridges and is part of the “Venice and its Lagoon”site , a UNESCO World Heritage Site since 1987 for its uniqueness and its extraordinary landscape and architectural value, which presents urban characteristics very similar to those of Venice. The port area is directly connected to the Romea 309 state road – a road of considerable importance that allows one to quickly reach the city of Venice (Piazzale Roma – 50 minutes by car). The area undergoing redevelopment is located a short distance from the historic city centre, reachable on foot in a few minutes. The international airport “Marco Polo” of Venice is about 60 km from the area (60-70 minutes by car).
