In Emilia Romagna 4 bln of potential revenues from old buildings

Posted: 20 April 2018

The renovation of 10% of properties built in Emilia Romagna before 1980 (124 million sq.m.) could create an influx of 3.9 billion euros, the employment of almost 31 thousand people and energy savings for 88,5 million euros per year.

This emerges from the BuildLab study (Innovation and Finance Lab for Sustainable Construction) by Aster, a regional company for innovation and industrial research, with the contribution of Nomisma, in the framework of the European project Buildinterest (Horizon 2020).

Experts calculated that renovation projects, to be considered eligible, must grant a return on investment by 12 years at the latest and an energy saving higher than 35%.
