The Fort is a result of subsequent defensive and military intervention; it constitutes an area of inestimable landscape, historical, environmental and architectural value. After the construction of the Murazzi and the breakwater, a green area of about 110,000 Sq mt developed alongside the Fort. The area has traces of the Sotto Marina Battery.Currently the area of the compendium is approximately 21,800 Sq mt with an uncovered area of approximately 17,000 Sq mt. Thecomplex is made of 24 buildings for a total covered area of approximately 4,800 Sq mt. A variation to the Master Plan of the Municipality of Chioggia is underway, in order to allocate the area for tourist accommodation and commercial purposes as well as services of common interest. A recent survey and subsequent stacking of the artefacts present was carried out by the Interregional Provveditorato for Public Works for Veneto; this activity is preparatory to the design of the recovery and enhancement of the Fort property complex, in order to obtain a complete knowledge of the area of interest. Specifically, topographical, architectural and photogrammetric surveys were carried out, structural investigations and environmental investigations

Forte San Felice di Chioggia is located in the Northern end of Sottomarina, close to the historical center of Chioggia, from which it is a few hundred meters away by water line. The natural conformation of Forte San Felice derives from a political and strategic operational choice linked to the nature of the property which, having purely military and defensive functions for the Venetian Republic, had to guarantee the characteristics of an invisible fortification or, at least, hardly perceptible by the enemy. In addition, the Fort performed the function of tax control hub for commercial flows. So this structure fits perfectly into the urban context of the city, to protect it, and today it is a fundamental element linked to the historical-cultural context of the city center
