The property, consisting of a building and its appurtenant outdoor courtyard, is in the centre of Grottammare, near the coast and the Adriatic Cycle Route. At the beginning of the 20th century, it was used as customs and then as barracks of the Italian Financial Police, until 1977. It consists of a rectangular building spread on two levels and made up of four units (a garage and three flats).

The facades are plastered and painted; the roof is partially pitched and covered with tiles, and partially a terrace. The south façade overlooks Via Cavour (where the entrance is), and the west façade is adjacent to another building. A courtyard accessible from Via Cavour through an iron gate is also part of the property. 

The windows overlooking Via Cavour have been bolted with wooden panels; the ones on the ground floor have bars. The building has been declared of historical and architectural interest pursuant to art 10, paragraph 1 of the Legislative Decree n. 42/2004 and is subject to the protection constraints contained in the mentioned decree. 

New destinations of use: sustainable tourism and related activities – accommodation, culture, sport, soft mobility, wellness, discovery of the territory, events and gathering activities as provided for in the General Development Plan and related Implementing Technical Standards of the municipality of Grottammare.

It has been awarded the title of “Bandiera Blu” (“Blue Flag”) and it is regarded as one of the most beautiful Italian villages, thanks to its fortified old town dominating the coast. Recognized by the FIAB (Italian Federation for Environment and Bicycles) as “town for bicycles”, it has good services, and road and rail infrastructures.
