The regeneration project covers approximately 8,000 square metres of land immediately behind the historic centre of the municipality and close to the Town Hall. The area can be divided into two parts, quantitatively equivalent: the old disused carpenter's workshop (of a single property, of approximately 4,000 square metres), with access from Via Roma; the disused/underused buildings, also of artisan origin, facing Via Silvio Pellico - Via IV Novembre (of different properties, of approximately 4,000 square metres).
The buildings (2/3 storeys, maximum 10.50 metres), are formed two discontinuous urban curtains that extend into the block, creating a system of 3 courts:
The ground floor of the new settlements will be characterised by functions and uses that exchange with the city’s elevation:
The whole area will therefore be accessed exclusively by pedestrians and bicycles. A underground parking area (level -1, mixed of about 4,500 sqm) will be allocated both to public rotation (about 2,000 sqm, 60 parking spaces) and to the allocation of private cars (about 2,500 sqm, 50 boxes). It can be accessed directly from Via Roma. A level and tree-lined car park with ready access to serve the public functions and public use that characterise the ground floor of the buildings (the city level) is planned at the intersection of Via Silvio Pellico and Via IV Novembre (for about 20 parking spaces, about 1,000 m2).
The other two levels will be used for residential and complementary functions:
Limido Comasco is a municipality in the province of Como, located 30 kilometres north-west of Milan and 15 kilometres south-west of Como, with a population of about 3,800 and an area of 4.5 km².
Limido Comasco shares borders with these municipalities: Cislago, Fenegrò, Lurago Marinone, Mozzate, Turate.
Getting to Limido Comasco by car is easy because, besides the possibility of using provincial and regional roads, you can take the A9 motorway from Milan that connects Milan to Como. The municipality does not have a railway station, but it is still possible to use the numerous stations located a few kilometres away, including those of Cantù, Legnano and Cucciago, while the one in Como is about twenty minutes away. Finally, the municipality is not far from Malpensa international airport (about ten kilometres).
