Online at www.agenziademanio.it are the notices of expressions of interest in the four state-owned properties that the Agenzia del Demanio is bidding for in the competition international architecture and urban design competition Reinventing Cities. The objective of the programme of C40, the global network of mayors united in the fight against the climate crisis, is the recovery and redevelopment of underutilised urban assets and areas, encouraging sustainable development and rewarding innovative solutions in the field of urban and environmental challenges. The buildings nominated for the competition, differing in size, context and architectural type, are the Forte Sant’Andrea and the Casa Madonna di Nicopeja in Venice, the former Perotti barracks in Bologna and the former Casa del Fascio in Settecamini in Rome.
National and international operators have until 11 July 2024 to submit concepts project concepts capable of regenerating assets and creating opportunities for territorial development. Interested parties can carry out an on-site visit to the properties, as indicated in the notices.
The competition is structured in two distinct phases. In the first, concerning the expression of interest the best proposals deemed suitable for the objectives of the international programme will be selected. The second step, to which only eligible teams will have access, will allow the assets to be assigned in concession/development lease or for sale.
Dedicated territorial events will be held in the coming weeks, during which the Agenzia del Demanio and local administrations will illustrate the specificities of the assets, the competition requirements and the criteria for their redevelopment. The meetings will be an opportunity to closely involve sector operators, investors and stakeholders.
The Agency has already organised the first and second of five events dedicated to the competition: the events ‘Reinventing Rome Former Casa del Fascio, Settecamini locality’ and ‘Reinventing Palermo: former Chimica Arenella’, held respectively on the 9th and 11th of April.
Agenzia del Demanio, through its Design Structure, is also supporting the Municipality of Milan for the candidature of the former school in Via Zama and the Municipality of Palermo for the candidature of the former Chimica Arenella.
