Rome: residential expansion to more peripheral areas

Posted: 17 October 2018

Roman families live a very extensive metropolitan reality which, on the one hand has seen a progressive depopulation of the historic centre and the redevelopment of semi-central areas, on the other it witnesses an expansion of the residential area towards more peripheral areas.

In fact, according to Tecnoborsa data, the Historic Centre has a 24.5% average of residents in Rome, while the half-centre has a 39.1% and the periphery 36.4%.

It should be noted that, compared to other large Italian cities, the capital presents a value for the historical centre that is below the other averages; but the percentages for the semi-center and the periphery register higher values.
