The car park will be built on an area of 45,500 sqm divided into 3 sub-areas, two of which are currently used as surface parking by port users, port operators, residents, commuters and public administrations; currently there is a building in the area that will have to be demolished. A feasibility study has been prepared to create a structure divided into 5 floors above ground with an estimated total capacity of approximately 5,400 spaces: half of the parking spaces will be used for rotation parking, while the remaining spaces will be assigned to subscribers and Public Administrations. The cost of construction of the work has been estimated at approximately € 90 million.

The area where the multi-storey car park will be built is located in the city of Venice (population 250,193), at the end of the Ponte della Libertà, in the area called “Marittima” of Venice: a port area (maritime state property) located to the west of the historic city, between the Tronchetto Island and Piazzale Roma. The area where the parking project is located, reachable on foot from the historic centre, is the main embarkation and disembarkation point for cruise traffic (as redesigned by the limitations introduced by Legislative Decree 103/2021 of the historic centre of Venice). The parking area can be reached by car by taking the Ponte della Libertà (SR 11) from the mainland, while the internal road system is to be implemented as part of the project.
