In 1865 the Austro-Hungarian Military Treasury bought these agricultural estates from private owners to use them as a military armoury.

By decree of 1923, the compound became State property and in 1949 the Local Employment Office promoted by the Labour Department of the Allied Military Government a project to establish here a permanent centre for training and professional retraining of workers, to be managed by the National Institute for Training and Improvement of Industry Workers. The school was abandoned in the late 1970s and the lower part of the compound was handed over for government use to State administrations that are still using a portion of it. The portion for sale consists of two main buildings (management offices and classrooms), two accessory buildings (depot and janitor’s quarters) and an outdoor appurtenance. The offices are L – positioned, both consist of a basement and three or two floors above ground. The depot consists of one floor above ground and the janitor’s quarters one floor above ground and a basement. The supporting structure is made of reinforced concrete frame, the roof is flat, and the windows are in wood.

The estate is in Via di Giarizzole 22, in the suburbs of Trieste, on the slopes of Mount San Pantaleone and at the beginning of the industrial zone.

It is sufficiently connected to the main roads but scarcely served by public transport.

The other buildings in the area are residential or destined to production.

The compound can be reached through Via Flavia in the direction Trieste-Muggia and, once in Piazzale Cagni, turning left on Strada Vecchia dell’Istria and then again left on Via di Giarrizzole on to the gate of the pedestrian and vehicular access.
