A project to build Turin’s Health, Research and Innovation Park (PSRI) in the Avio-Oval urban area, where the south side of the city has already undergone vast urban and functional redevelopment, that foresees the establishment of residential and commercial structures, integrated with public tertiary and service buildings, as well as parkland. The PSRI will represent an integrated hospital centre, with educational and clinical research facilities, linked to other regional research.
The construction PSRI in Turin is included in the vast redevelopment and requalification project of the Avio-Oval urban area, property of the Region of Piedmont and of FS Urban Systems. The area is vast and connected, from an infrastructural point of view, with the rest of the city and with the outside, aiming to become one of the most important sophisticated tertiary poles in Turin, reinforcing the three managerial centres in the city: the centre, Porta Susa and the Lingotto area, behind Via Nizza. The intervention permits the overall construction of 127.000 m² SLP, of which 69.000 m² are included in this area, assigned to different functions: clinical training, 5.000 m²; didactic centre, 31.000 m²; research centre, 10.000 m²; residential centre: 8.000 m²; commercial activities and facilities, 15.000 m², as well as 61.000 m² for public use and parking lots. The redevelopment of the area will be done through concession by the partner that will be chosen.
The area is located in the south-east quadrant of Turin (pop. 896.773), the capital of the Province with the same name and of the Piedmont Region, the 4th city of Italy for resident population. It’s situated between the “Lingotto” station railway line, Via Passo Buole, Via Nizza with underground stations and the Lingotto multifunctional site, once occupied by a Fiat Avio establishment, where the Oval Lingotto Sports Building has already been built (the skating stadium used during the Winter Olympics, 2006), today used for trade shows, while the business tower is still being built, which will become the new Piedmont Region headquarters. The reconstruction plans include the construction of the new “Ponte Lingotto” Station, that connects the Health Park with the railway line, and also an Underground station will be built, that will connect the existing line to Piazza Bengasi, as it now ends with the “Lingotto Fiere” stop. Excellent accessibility by car and public transport, with the underground nearby, the “Turin Porta Nuova” railway station 4,5 km away and the high velocity “Turin Porta Susa” station at 6,5 km. Turin’s South Bypass insects with the motorway network, with the A-6 motorway (Turin-Savona), the A-4 (Turin-Trieste) and the A-21 (Turin-Brescia), and is 6 km away.
